‘I found out about BCL by talking to a neighbour about one or two things when I first moved to Beverley over 13 years ago. I had been living in Kent and wanted to be closer to my son and his family who live in Hull.

I use BCL for lifts on a Monday to go to the Norwood lunch club and a Wednesday to go to the Toll Gavel Church lunch group. I go with my two good friends, and we often go on outings to garden centres and other trips on the minibuses throughout the year.

If BCL wasn’t here, I wouldn’t be able to go anywhere. My son works six days a week and isn’t home until late in the evening, but I do see him on Fridays and Sundays.

I think BCL is superb! I was just sitting at home thinking about things the other day, and one thing I am so pleased about now I’m older is that BCL is available for me to use here in Beverley. I don’t know what I’d do without its service – and I really mean that – I’m so grateful.

I recommend BCL to everyone I speak to. If someone hadn’t used the BCL car or minibus service before,  I would encourage them  to give it a go, and see how their lives improve by getting out and about and meeting people, rather than being stuck at home all day, day in day out, as that’s very lonely.

I have been using BCL for over 10 years. I have artificial hips and knees and use a walking cane and a stroller to get around. When I go on outings on the minibus, I can easily fold the stroller up and put it in the boot of the bus and then unfold it, use it and sit on it during the day if I need to.

I am very, very grateful to BCL. The girls and lads that drive us about are wonderful, really thoughtful and patient and we can have a good laugh with them too! Thank you for all that you do to keep us elderly folk active and cared for.’
