We are appealing for good quality handbags for a special fundraising event in our Beverley Community Lift charity shop.

It's to help raise funds towards purchasing a new community transport minibus, to take elderly and disabled people out and about and reduce their loneliness.

The 'Hoorah for Handbags' event will be held on Saturday 17th February from 9.30am in the charity's shop at 6 Sow Hill Road in Beverley.

CEO of Beverley Community Lift, Jan Stainforth, explained more about the event: "For one day only, we will be selling good quality handbags at great bargain prices.

"Most ladies have extra handbags stored in their wardrobes, cloakrooms and cupboards. We buy them for everyday use, for weddings, evening do's and other special occasions, and can usually be tempted by a new one!

"This event will be a good reason to have a look at the handbags we have hidden away at home, and donate those we no longer use, need or want. It also frees up space for possibly buying some new ones!"

"If you do have handbags to donate for our charity fundraiser, please take them to Beverley Community Lift's charity shop in Beverley, The shop opens Tuesday to Saturday 9.30am and 3pm, and handbags need to be donated before 16th February.

"If you've not been to visit our shop yet, Sow Hill Road is the main road into the Saturday Marketplace in the town, and the shop is on the right hand side, next to the Pig & Whistle restaurant."
