The ‘really nice’ people at telecoms company Simpatico explain why they sponsor Beverley Community Lift.

Dave Spittlehouse, Director of Simpatico, explained why he selected Beverley Community Lift as his charity of choice.

‘I initially found out about Beverley Community Lift and its services through the Beverley BNI networking group.  When I heard what the charity does, and that it supports elderly and disabled people to get out and about, I knew I wanted to get involved.

One of the main reasons that I support BCL is that it’s a purely local charity. It exists here in my local community. The proof of that is in the charity’s name!

The charity is self-sufficient, and it doesn’t receive any national or statutory funding, so we all need to come together in the community to support it.

BCL is a nice identity to be associated with. You can easily see the immediate benefit of helping the charity, as it operates on a small scale and I know any monies really do go to helping the services users.

Most businesses want to support a charity, and it’s not always easy to decide which one to choose. With BCL I can go along and see what they do and understand their ethos. It’s great to support a local charity and you get immediate connections.

BCL charity shop is also a great way to help the charity. It’s easy to drop off donations and I feel like I’m doing some good by supporting the shop. I’ve also joined the charity’s Lottery in a bid to do my bit!

I like the way it does events for fundraising, as it enables me to get out of my comfort zone and raise money at the same time. How else would I be able to do a Firewalk?!

I would like to inspire others to get involved and see their own personal reward. BCL makes it easy for me to reach my own personal challenges.  I’m trying to convince them to arrange the 100 mph Zipwire challenge in Wales!

The relationship with BCL is a nice one to have.

Beverley Community Lift is right on my doorstep and that’s why it’s my charity of choice.'
