Do you know someone with a bit of spare time on their hands? Perhaps a student over the summer holidays, someone newly retired or someone who needs experience for gaining employment.

If so, please ask them to get in touch with us.

We're looking for new volunteers for our Beverley Community Lift (BCL) charity shop in the centre of Beverley, and according to our current volunteers, 'a really warm, friendly welcome awaits'.

BCL charity shop manager Heath Marsh-McLeod explains more: "Our charity shop is proving more and more popular to Beverley residents and visitors, and we have opportunities for new volunteers to join our team.

"Volunteers can give as much or as little time as they are able to, and no previous experience is required. We provide training as necessary, and there are lots of ways to get involved. Some people enjoy being at the front of the shop serving customers, whilst others prefer to be in the back office, helping with admin, stock sorting and labelling. It's a great way to gain retail experience and enhance your CV if you're looking for a new career."

Jan and Louise are already volunteers at the BCL charity shop, and they would encourage new volunteers to come to the shop and have a chat to find out more. Jan said: "There's a really friendly atmosphere in the BCL charity shop. Everyone is friendly and polite and we have a good laugh on a regular basis!

"It's a good way for me to do something, and it gets me out of the house. It helps to take your mind off other things, and there's always a good supply of tea and biscuits!"

Louise said that volunteering at the BCL shop had led to her securing a job: "Through volunteering at the BCL charity shop, I have gained skills and confidence, and this has led me to getting a new part-time paid job. I like the fact that the volunteers and manager are very friendly, so I would tell anyone considering volunteering with BCL to give it a go. Don't be worried about getting in touch, we're very welcoming!"
