Beverley Community Lift will find out this Tuesday evening its fate in the annual  East Riding of Yorkshire Council Chairman's Awards.

It has been shortlisted for the Community - Group category, up against Bubwith Leisure and Sports Centre and Hessle Epilepsy Society.

It is for dedicated work by volunteers and staff that has made Beverley Community Lift a success over the last 50 years. As the charity prepares to re-start excursions late next month with a much-reduced capacity, manager Fiona Wales has been busy making special face coverings for everyone involved: “I’ve made all our masks, 80 so far and another 40 to go. This will ensure all our volunteer car and bus drivers and passengers on summer outings will have their own.  The masks have an opening in the back so a disposable air filter can be fitted if required and a strip of wire over the nose to ensure it fits snugly.”

A trial post-COVID19 excursion was due to take place this week to Hornsea with five passengers on board and each of them issued with their own 100ml hand gel as well as the face covering.
